HP replaces faulty power units

Shocking

Hewlett Packard is launching a program to replace potentially unsafe power distribution units (PDUs) primarily found in its rack systems.

Users may get an electric shock from an affected system if the internal primary safety ground of the PDU is interrupted. HP says it has had no reports of any injuries due to the problem.

A limited number of these PDUs have been shipped in Europe, Africa and the Middle East since 1999.

The PDUs are used in HP's rack systems, which are found in its servers, networking products, and storage products like disc systems.

The PDUs will be replaced to customers free of charge and information regarding the recall can be found here on the company's Web site. ®
