Consumer demand for new networked applications will feed through to soaring sales for storage systems, according to IDC.
The US market research firm reckons the worldwide market for storage systems - RAID, network attached storage, disk arrays, storage area networks and the like - will be worth $53 billion. This is a compound annual growth rate of 12 per cent.
IDC pinpoints a number of factors responsible for the growth: the introduction of broadband infrastructure will fuel consumer demand for graphic intensive imaging; corporates will migrate to networked storage
Installation of capacity by storage service providers; storage service providers will install storage capacity; and so on.
