Dell touts smaller OptiPlex desktop in UK

A bit quieter than the rest

Dell has brought out a smaller model to go in its OptiPlex desktop line.

The OptiPlex GX150 SF machine is midnight-grey in colour. It is the second OptiPlex model with the OptiFrame chassis - which is clamshell in design and is meant to be able to handle future technologies and make component installation and upgrades easy and quick.

It is 90mm high, 319 mm wide and 354 mm deep. It has front accessible USB, and Dell claims it is quieter than the rest of the OptiPlex line.

It comes with either a Celeron chip, up to 700MHz, or Pentium III chip, up to 1GHz. It also has up to 512 MB PC133 SDRAM (100MHz with the Celeron), and SMART II Ultra ATA/100 hard drives with a maximum 40GB.

The basic model with 600MHz Celeron costs £562. Prices for one of the PCs with an 800MHz PIII, 64MB PC133 SDRAM, 10 GB hard drive, integrated 10/100 networking, 15-inch monitor and Windows 2000 start at £627.
