Lego builds links to MSN, games for Xbox

It's not the toy it was...

Lego has announced a strategic alliance (ach!) with Microsoft today. Microsoft doesn't seem all that bothered, however, the two will "team up" to create various Lego-based products. Lego will produce content for the Beast of Redmond's MSN network and games for the fantastically exciting Xbox.

Lego will also take out loads of ads with Microsoft. Microsoft will rest on its laurels, said an official spokesvegetable. The press release on this historic occasion witters on and on in management speak and tells you nothing other than the fact that top management talks a load of nonsense.

We don't know if money changed hands. Or what the "deal" actually entails. There "could" be an exchange of technology but Lego didn't want to leap into that assumption. Basically, Microsoft has allowed it to have some room on its sites and let it produce Xbox games.

But let's ignore all this rubbish - the question has to be: so what will these games for the Xbox be like? We haven't a clue to be honest. Lego has been "modernising" its bricks because it didn't want to go out of business and pulled in computer culture and bits of robotics, etc. to keep modern kids happy.

But what on earth it is going to do with the Xbox is anyone's guess. We called up Lego in Denmark and they're not sure either. ®
