BT sent ADSL enquiries to council helpline
Probably just as useful
BT is directing ADSL service enquiries to the North Lincolnshire Social and Housing Services' complaints department.
A Reg reader made this discovery after dialling the number for BT service enquiries, 150, and dutifully going through menus until he was able eventually to speak to an attendant. He was told to contact the telco's ADSL team and given the freephone number 0800 783 6480.
This is Lincolnshire Council's housing services complaints hotline, which recently has been taking more calls about ADSL (15, or so to date) than blocked drains. The ADSL punters all came through 150 - unfortunately the cash-strapped authority was even more ill-equipped to field their questions than BT.
The telco is adamant it's giving out the right number, which is 0800 783 6340. So it must all be a dream. ®
