Reg hack caught accepting Intel bribe

Time for a trip to the billiard room with a service revolver

Reg staffers were shocked to the core last night at Intel's Christmas party in London's throbbing West End when a senior Intel manager was spotted handing a significant cash sum to Hardware Editor Andrew Thomas.

Readers had long suspected that Thomas, 49, had been in the pay of Chipzilla following the publication of stories such as 'AMD is rubbish', 'Intel is great' and 'I want to have Craig Barrett's babies'.

The Intel manager, who requested anonymity, but is known by the codename 'Chris Hogg' was seen handing Thomas a £1 coin after the sozzled hack was heard to complain that everyone thought Intel was bribing him.

Photographs of the sleazy transaction were taken but Intel thought police snatched the camera from ace Reg lensman Lester 'WideBoy' Haines before he could escape to the nearest all night chemist to have the film developed.

"This was a sordid example of a drunken has-been taking advantage of an impressionable young person," said a stunned Kieren McCarthy.

A tearful Lucy Sherriff added: "I always knew he was a wrong 'un. Bring back Mike Magee." ®
