Tesco is Cock of the e-Walk

Brits flock to ecommerce sites

October was the busiest month on record for people in Britain visiting e-commerce sites, according to the latest research from NetValue.

Some eight million people checked out e-commerce sites during the month and more than half went on to make a secure connection, suggesting that people were engaging in some kind of online transaction.

Tesco.com was the most popular e-commerce site with almost 600,000 unique visitors, followed by buy.com (370,000) and dixons.co.uk (342,000).

Following the chaos on Britain's railways, railtrack.co.uk became the most visited transport site as passengers did their utmost to find out the latest travel news.

Netvalue also found that the number of home Net users in Britain rose slightly from 9.8 million to 10.1 million.

Earlier this week AOL UK said that unmetered Net access could help boost e-commerce sales this Christmas. ®
