Dell punters hit by PC delivery scam
You've been warned
Dell customers are being warned to be on their guard after two men walked out with four PCs two hours after they had been delivered to a company in London.
The men claimed they were from IEC (Irish Express Cargo) - a company contracted by Dell to deliver the machines - and said there was a problem with the shipment.
Using fake identification, they managed to fool staff at the media training company, Communication Skills Europe, and left with four boxes each containing a desktop PC server.
Ian Metherell, a director at the company told The Reg: "The men were very credible and very professional
"It is a setback for us - very upsetting and very annoying," he said.
Metherell said he was told that his was not an isolated incident and that other companies had been hit by people posing as IEC couriers.
Asked about these allegations Sarah Burns of IEC said: "We have no comment to make at this time."
No one from Dell was available for comment by press time. ®
