BTopenworld FAQs it up

FAQing 'ell, not again

A vulture-eyed Register reader appears to have spotted one of the reasons BTopenworld is having so many problems with the ordering and installation of its broadband ADSL service.

A FAQ on BTopenworld's site asks the question, twice, "can I choose my installation date?"

The answer in both cases is "yes" - except in one, where it says the "lead time (how long it takes punters to get ADSL once they've ordered it) is approx. 8 days". In the second question, it's 15 days.

Confused? Not as much as BT.

If you want to check it out yourself go to the BTopenworld site, click on 'Explore', then on 'Technical Info' and finally on 'Questions'. But you'll have to be quick cos BT's already on the case. If you can't be bothered, here's the relevant bits.

Q.12 Can I choose my installation date?
A. Yes, the current lead time is approx. 8 days and you can also choose an am or pm slot. An exception may be when BT engineering need to change an appointment date - if this is the case, BTopenworld will contact the customer to explain and arrange another appointment.

Q.44 Can I choose my installation date?
A. Yes, the current lead time is approx. 15 days and you can also choose an am or pm slot. An exception may be when BT engineering need to change an appointment date - if this is the case, BTopenworld will contact the customer to explain and arrange another convenient appointment.

Earlier this week BTopenworld's site price list read that the home domestic service was £39.99 a quarter - instead of £39.99 a month. It was changed. Quickly. ®
