IBM, Toshiba team on Linux cluster systems
Ally to sell clustered NetFinities
IBM and Toshiba are to co-operate on the promotion of Linux cluster systems, the duo announced today.
The deal brings Toshiba's DNCware ClusterPerfect clustering software and IBM's NetFinity server hardware, a combination that both companies will bring to the Japanese server market. The product will be offered as a Linux-based redundant fault-tolerant server and disk array system.
IBM Japan will sell the system, while Toshiba will provide support for its software, and measure and optimise system performance.
Tokyo University, and NTT, Dwango and Situs' joint mobile phone content delivery service XnetBooster have both ordered the first such systems, IBM and Toshiba said. ®
