Surfing Rabbit pulled out of the hat

Back in yer hutch

A Leicester telco has begun offering unmetered voice and Internet calls for residential users.

According to a statement that fluttered into Reg's offices, punters can get 24/7 unmetered local voice calls for just £5.99 (plus VAT) a month.

For an extra £4 (plus VAT) a month, punters can also get 24/7 Net access.

Punters must spend £20 a month on national, international, or landline-to-mobile calls as part of the deal. If not, they are charged £2 (plus VAT).

Users will also need a dialler, which they receive free of charge.

This "ground-breaking new service" was launched today by Telecom GB.

According to the statement (you know, the one that fluttered into the office) Telecom GB is an ISP and carrier, and is licensed by the Department of Trade and Industry and telecoms regulator, Oftel.

Telecom GB's new Web site, Surfing Rabbit didn't appear to be up and running when Reg tried it this morning.

But Tony Greenwood, chairman and MD of Telecom GB, told Reg this morning: "We're telephony men...if you keep your margins tight you should be alright." ®
