Mobile company tries to rip off The Reg

ISPs got told off for just this sort of thing last week

A fax that arrived at Vulture Central this morning seemed too good to be true: "Unlimited free calls for your mobile workforce". Blimey! Let's get it, we cried.

Well, no we didn't. We actually said: if anyone is stupid enough to come up with this misleading tosh and then fax it to The Reg, they deserve everything they get. And so the reality of B3's offer is somewhat different.

You see, what this company is offering is a mobile and a walkie-talkie in one. Crap idea, we know. Dolphin Telecom offers two-way radio, mobile telephony and messaging in one handset. Wow! How could you resist?

Needless to say, the "unlimited free calls" headline - that takes up 75 per cent of the ad - refers to only the walkie-talkie aspect. Not very surprising really since walkie-talkie conversations have never cost anything to anyone ever.

Internet service providers tried a similar, utterly misleading ad campaign in recent months and were lambasted by the Advertising Standards Authority and told not to do it again. Now, does this article count as an official complaint? ®
