CeBit and Creative Labs in hair pulling battle

Fight fight fight fight fight

In the days biggest "you started it" tit for tat contest, Creative Labs has confirmed that it will not be exhibiting at this year's CeBit in Hanover.

Creative says that the decision was taken after CeBit last year when the organisers told them that they would not be allowed to show any consumer MP3's at the exhibition this year.

CeBit has since said that it did no such thing, because Creative never asked them if they could exhibit MP3s.

A spokesperson for the event said that anyone who wanted to show MP3's could do so, and speaking specifically about Creative not exhibiting said: "It's their problem not ours. We don't even know if they understood the situation."

A spokeswoman for Creative Labs told The Reg that "It is a case of our word against theirs. They told us that if we wanted to display MP3s, they had to have a B2B focus. I've never heard of an MP3 player being a B2B thing, so we decided not to exhibit. I don't know what other manufacturers think about it."

We think that it all sounds a bit silly, and that some one should put both of them in detention until they calm down. ®
