Intel confirms server support prog

And so it came to pass

Chip giant Intel has now formally introduced its server support strategy, as predicted here at the end of March.

The service, which Intel calls the e-business server programme, provides training, sales and marketing support and integration tips to its system integrators, Web partners, dealers and "value added resellers".

Although Intel did not disclose how much it is plunging into the scheme we understand that it is at least $1.5 million.

But members of the scheme have to pay Intel. Said Luke Ireland, operations director at evesham.com. "There is an annual membership fee. This is to provide the barrier for entry that means not every OEM can get it. We believe the information and services provided are good value. So far the first and currently only European Direct PC Vendor to participate in the Intel programme. We believe it adds great value to our server proposition in all areas of the business market." ®
