Geek pulls Net super babe

Cindy Margolis gets bespectacled boys sweaty

It's every geek's dream - build a Web site, make lots of money and sit back while the supermodels come to you. Well, mygeek.com appears to have pulled it off.

Net babe Cindy Margolis (one of People's 50 Most Beautiful People, Forbes' Top 100 Celebrities, Detail's Sexiest Woman of the Year (99) and entry in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "Most Downloaded Woman in the World") has agreed to join the boys at the Web Attack Internet conference in New York next month. She'll be signing autographs from one to three pm on 9 June, so get those last-minute flight deals while you can.

Cindy will be promoting her own site and brand of beauty products - Cyberbuddy. We had a quick look at the site, in the interests of investigative journalism. While it's very fancy, we were struck by the fact that Cindy (look out! here come the flames!) isn't actually that gorgeous - more plastic Barbie doll than sensual woman.

Still, that's probably what you'd want from a Net fantasy woman. The goods on the site are also ridiculously expensive - anyone who coughs up $49.99 for a "signed", "limited-edition" poster of her needs serious help. Still, there's no denying that she's an eye-catching wench.

Oh, nearly forgot about Mygeek.com. It's an "online personal shopping service". Visitors input what they're after and these requests are responded to by the site's registered sellers. The visitor can then select which product they wish to buy. Not a bad idea, although having to input some info to see anything is a bit annoying - some of us are just plain nosy.

What else can we say? We're a little jealous as Heather Lockleer (sorry, that's Locklear) said she couldn't make The Reg's annual party - previous commitments apparently. ®
