Pentium III 800 makes debut in erratumnotbug chart

First showing of the top of the range chip

The Pentium III 800MHz .18 micron processor has made its first appearance on Intel's official erratum list. The latest January update to the Pentium III 60 page document, which can be found here, shows that the processor, which is still as difficult to find as a needle in a haystack, suffers not dissimilar problems to other Coppermine parts. Although "flaws", errata and bugs are common in new processors, it is rare that they escape factories these days, Intel claims. The bug in the 800MHz part is unlikely to be serious. An earlier problem in the Coppermine processor which temporarily caused Dell to stop shipping 733MHz based systems, was as a result of slippages in the quality checking. Intel said at the time it had tightened up these procedures. ® Intel erratum-not-bug problem-not-good-enough Oh no, it's FDIV time again Coppermine bug a marchitectural disaster Intel now Dell acknowledge Coppermine bug Intel moves to re-assure industry on bugs
