Pentium III sales in full swing in Japan

Readers in Japan have told The Register that the Pentium III is now available in quantity in shops in Tokyo. Chips are available in both 450MHz and 500MHz flavours, one source said. He gave this reference as an example and cited several more. There are more pictures here. He said that the second column from the left is the lowest street price, the third is the change from the previous week, and the very right column is the number of shops sampled. At least five stores in Japan are already selling Pentium III/500MHz parts, he reported. Intel had reacted to our original story about Pentium IIIs being for sale in Tokyo by claiming they were re-marked parts (see below).
