Facebook logs $7bn quarter

AMD designs highly complex microprocessors that are the culmination of decades of research and development. They recently logged $1.3bn in quarterly revenue. Facebook makes a free-to-use website using other people's content, and logs more than six times that.

The House of Zuck today reported $7bn in revenues over its Q3 2016 period. Most of that was from a $6.8bn advertising take, with the remainder coming from "payments and other fees." Net income for the quarter was $2.3bn, while non-GAAP earnings per share were $1.09.

Compared to the year-ago quarter, revenues were up 56 per cent, while income jumped 166 per cent and earnings per share were up 165 per cent. That all sounds great, but Facebook's stock is taking a hammering right now after-hours because it warned its growth rate will slow... ®
