Aussie Aussie Aussie, oi oi oi you, you're fired: Apple sacks staff secretly snapping shoppers

Strewth!

Apple fired staff from one of its Australian stores this week after they secretly snapped and shared photos of fellow workers and customers.

The Brisbane Courier-Mail [paywalled] reports that employees at the city's Carindale mall Apple store were using iGizmos to take pictures of women and sharing the images among themselves after giving each picture a score between one and ten. It was claimed that some of the images may have been selfies and other private pics copied from customers' handsets that were brought in for repair while others are snapped in store.

"Apple believe in treating everyone equally and with respect, and we do not tolerate behaviour that goes against our values," the fruity flinger told the Beeb. "We have met with our store team to let them know about the investigation and inform them about the steps Apple is taking to protect their privacy."

The 3.5mm jack-offs are investigating the creepy surveillance and said several workers have been sacked.

The story emerged after one of the paper's employees noticed a technician looking through photos on a returned phone in the shop. One of the other employees said that similar photo-snooping rings could be operating in other Australian stores.

"We are aware of the reports and will be making enquiries with Apple to seek further information," said Australian Privacy Commissioner Timothy Pilgrim.

"This is an important reminder that all organizations that collect and manage personal information need to embed a culture of privacy and ensure employees understand their responsibilities." ®
