New Amazon Linux

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has updated its Linux.

Version 2016.09 adds Nginx 1.10, PostgreSQL 9.5 and Python 3.5.

You can run the updated OS in all AWS regions and “on all current-generation EC2 instance types.”

There's also a new “SSM Agent” that “allows you to use Run Command in order to configure and run scripts on your EC2 instances”.

Upgrading current instances is as simple as:

$ sudo yum clean all
$ sudo yum update
