Dell Tech names regional channel overlords post EMC buy

And guess what? Most of them already worked at Dell

recruitment_hired

Dell Technologies has lined up regional execs to run its channel organ following the $60bn buy of EMC, and it’ll be no surprises to some that the team is largely made up of folk that already worked at the Texan tech biz.

For Asia Pacific, Dell has installed Ng Tian Being, who was veep of South Asia and Korea; for Latin America is Alvaro Camarena, who was exec director of channel programmes; and for EMEA it’s Michael Collins.

Collins was only given the channel boss job in January when he replaced Laurent Binetti, who called time on his 30-year employment at Dell for pastures new.

“We can confirm that effective from January 2017, Michael Collins will run our business with partners in EMEA as vice president,” a Dell spokeswoman told us.

“Until then, both Michael and Philippe Fosse (the current EMC EMEA channel head] will continue to jointly-lead the Dell EMC EMEA Channel business in their established roles.

Fosse joined the storage titan in 2010 as veep for EMEA East, before he moved into the position more than four years ago. Prior to that he was at HDS, Xiotech and further back in the annals of time he was at StorageTek.

His future role within Dell Technologies and further details of the regional leadership structure will be “formally announced” at some point in the future, the Dell PR person assured us. Phew.

The only exception to the appointments is Greg Ambulos, who ran global channels for EMC and will control North America channels at Dell.

The global channel overlord at Dell Tech is John Byrne, who we were told back in July was to head up the $36bn reseller, distributor, SI and service provider division. ®
