Just minutes after deciding to loose release candidate 6 of Linux 4.8 on the world, Linus Torvalds received a pull request pertaining to networking. He later wrote “so there's perhaps a reason why rc6 looks fairly small.”
“Oh well,” Torvalds said. “I still haven't decided whether we're going to do an rc8, but I guess I don't have to decide yet. Nothing looks particularly bad, and it will depend on how rc7 looks.”
This week's update is “ two thirds driver updates, with half of the remainder being misc architecture updates, and the rest being random stuff (some fs/crypto fixes etc).” ®
