Violin Memory cuddles up to GlobalLogic for R&D help

Next-generation product on way, with software QA in progress

Violin Memory has entered a strategic partnership with GlobalLogic to help accelerate its research and development efforts.

GlobalLogic offers digital development services and has a fine roster of clients it is working with on R&D, such as Qualcom, BMC, Avid and Reuters.

GlobalLogic has more than 10,000 employees. Not bad for a business founded in 2000.

It was selected by Violin after a five firm beauty contest. It was impressed with GlobalLogic’s software development commitment, Violin saying the partnership will have synergy in cloud storage.

Specifically, the partnership will accelerate the development of a next generation platform for Violin with ongoing R&D projects augmenting existing resources. Violin COO Ebrahim Abbasi talked of this signalling a commitment to the market by Violin to speed product development with this hybrid internal-external approach.

Globalogic’s Ukrainian engineering centre in Kiev is already working on Violin software quality assurance and is expanding into other product development areas.

We can glean from this that Violin has a next-generation all-flash array coming, and the software is sufficiently advanced it needs quality assurance work done on it. ®
