TrollingTrump.gop

The seemingly endless trolling of presidential candidates continues apace – but with an unusual twist.

Donald Trump's selection of governor Mike Pence as his running mate has led one wag to register an address under the Republican Party's own ".gop" internet space – trumppence.gop – and redirect it to a website asking people to pledge never to vote from the divisive businessman.

Despite having paid $185,000 for the rights to the ".gop", and having the right to place restrictions on the use of it, amazingly the Republican State Leadership Committee – the official operator of the top-level domain – has not done so, leaving the door open to online trolling. A .gop domain costs $20 with an additional $5 to hide your contact details.

No doubt this will not be the first ".gop" address we will see that is not exactly aligned with the political party's policies. ®
