Cook's role on Nike board

Tim Cook has just done it, following the retirement of Nike founder Phil Knight, and been appointed as lead independent director on its board by new CEO Mark Parker.

With the vast majority of its produce coming from factories regularly criticised for their sweatshop-like working conditions, the Apple CEO will immediately begin to lead the sportswear company's independent directors.

Cook, who has been part of Nike's board since 2005, will chair its compensation committee and engage in normal board-member duties. This compensation will relate to executives, and not its historically underpaid workers.

Tech blog CNET tweeted a picture of Cook being on-brand.
