Google Calendar has suffered a total inability to support usual performance since at least 1500 BST this afternoon.

The service, marketed as a business tool, has not been accessible for many users, leaving calendar-scheduled phone calls in the lurch for workers without personal assistants (or memories).

The site downdetector.com displays a spike in reports around the hour, although many are still complaining.

At 14:47 GMT Google offered an update on the issue, claimimg: "We're investigating reports of an issue with Google Calendar. We will provide more information shortly." ®
