Openreach: Eat my fibre

BT's Openreach has unveiled nine locations that will receive Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) offering speeds of up to 1Gbps.

The rollout to Bath, Bradford, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Salford and Westminster, Holborn and the City of London is part of the former state monopoly's plan to bring ultrafast broadband via FTTP and G.Fast to up to one million businesses by the end of 2020.

It also comes as Ofcom mulls whether to refer an “enhanced structural” separation of the biz to the EU, following its findings earlier this year that Openreach acts primarily in the interests of BT. ®
