Dial-a-ride giants Uber and Lyft are being sued for their abrupt withdrawal from Austin, Texas.
Drivers have filed complaints against both Uber [PDF] and Lyft [PDF] in the California Northern District Court, alleging violations of the US Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.
The suits allege that when the companies left Austin, in a huff after voters upheld new laws on the car services, they failed to properly notify or compensate drivers before closing shop in the state capital. ®
