Amazon says no to Apple TV

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has confirmed what people already knew: the reason why the online retailer does not stock the Apple TV.

Speaking at a conference Wednesday, Bezos said that since Amazon's video service is not on the Apple hardware, Amazon refuses to stock the puck-like device. But before you get upset at Amazon, it's worth noting that the reason Amazon is not on the Apple TV is because of the terms Apple insists upon – thought to be a 30 per cent cut of any revenue.

Since Amazon already has its own TV device on the market, and its Amazon video player is widely available on other devices on far better terms than Apple insists on, Bezos said it was an easy business decision.

"You can always get the player on the device," he surmised. "The question is, can you get it on there with acceptable business terms?" ®
