SQL licences go Azure

Microsoft has made it possible to use your existing SQL server licences in Azures ... if you have an Enterprise Agreement.

As Microsoft explains here, " Microsoft Enterprise Agreement customers can bring existing licenses to run SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines. Since the launch of Azure Virtual Machines, customers can already run SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines through several existing SQL Server images available in the Azure Gallery, or bring their own images to Azure."

You'll pay for compute and storage, of course. But bringing your own licence will mean an end to having to manage two pools of licences for on-prem or cloud use. ®
