Rackspace email taps Scality

Rackspace has selected Scality's object storage for its email platform, which is powered by OX's IMAP server software Dovecot Pro.

Dovecot Pro is used on two-thirds of IMAP servers worldwide, we're told. It has an object storage plugin which connects with Scality's RING system. Rackspace becomes Scality's 100th customer.

Dan Shain, technical director at Rackspace, said: "By moving to Dovecot Pro and Scality Object Storage, we hope to reduce the number of servers for our email platform to just a fifth of its previous size. This will result in massive cost savings in upkeep across hardware, electricity and cooling." ®
