HP starts startup funder

HP Inc has created a new eight-person business unit called HP Tech Ventures that will provide seed and Series A funding to startups.

The new unit will be based in the heart of Silicon Valley in Palo Alto - where HP was founded back in 1939 - and will focus on four areas: 3D printing, augmented and virtual reality, smart robots, and the Internet of Things.

The unit will not have its own source of funding but will pull from HP Inc's revenues and it will report to HP's CTO Shane Wall. ®
