Comcast screws family

Another week, another Con-cast tale. US cable giant Comcast has blamed a computer cockup for billing a Florida family for pay-per-view adult films they hadn't ordered.

Alyssa and Jason Overstreet cancelled their subscription and sent back their cable box after they were charged for watching 20 X-rated flicks over the space of about three weeks. The couple said they hadn't requested the on-demand movies, but Comcast ignored their complaint.

Days later, without a set-top box in their home, Comcast continued to bill them for more porno films. That gave their local TV news WFTS the ammunition needed to make the cableco realize something was wrong – and the Overstreets were refunded. Comcast has apologized for the "data error." ®
