Euro Patent Office board to hold emergency meeting

An emergency meeting of the board of the European Patent Office (EPO) has been called, seemingly in response to a decision by the organization's staff to strike later this week.

The B28 group – which is the agenda-setting body for the EPO's broader administrative council – was due to meet next on May 24, but a new meeting was scheduled on Monday for next week, April 13.

On Monday, we noted that the EPO's staff has decided to strike this Thursday in protest at how the EPO's management has been targeting representatives of its staff union, SUEPO.

It is just the latest event in a power struggle between SUEPO and EPO president Benoît Battistelli. ®
