IBM snaps up small Bluewolf for reported $200m

CRM-as-service-acquisition strategy plays out

IBM is set to buy its second CRM-as-a-service business this month, announcing the imminent acquisition of Bluewolf, a Salesforce partner, for a reported £200m.

Bluewolf will join IBM's Interactive Experience (iX) arm, to provide Big Blue with Salesforcesque offerings in its customer relationship management.

iX is an IBM consultancy and digital agency.

The deal gives IBM in a company that has more than 15 years experience with Salesforce completed over 9,500 projects. Customers span financial services, manufacturing, healthcare and life sciences.

Bluewolf will continue to focus on Salesforce industry implementations after the transaction is completed.

According to IBM, Bluewolf stood out for its "breadth of expertise across all Salesforce clouds."

The shrinking Blue giant reckoned its own global presence and "innovative technology capabilities" would allow it so grow the iX practice in conjunction with Salesforce’s rapid growth.

Bluewolf comes in following IBM's purchase of a Microsoft Dynamics CRM partner Optevia, which has a large practice with the government in the UK, for an undisclosed sum earlier in March. ®
