Tiny tech takes Turkish tin-rattling title
Arduino-based prototyping board an obvious crowdfunding hit
The makers of a diminutive Arduino-based prototyping board have declared their tablet-sized kit "the most funded crowdfunding tech campaign ever from Turkey", after tin-rattling their way to over $60,000 down at Indiegogo.
"Tinylab" is the brainchild of the rather splendidly-titled Bosphorus Mechatronics, which rather less impressively describes it as "an open source electronic lab which contains lots of things you usually use when prototyping something".
It's designed as a comprehensive kit with an Arduino Leonardo at its heart, lacking only wireless capability, although that's available via add-ons, should you feel the need to control a IoT toothbrush via Bluetooth.
The Tinylab IoT Kit, with "ESP8266 WiFi Module + NRF24L01 2.4GHz Transceiver + HC-06 Bluetooth Module", is a modest $79. For ten bucks less, you can just have the basic "Maker Kit".
Bosphorus Mechatronics explains it's "been working on the DIY and robotics since 2010" via its Robotistan tentacle (in Turkish). ®
