Devops platform Cloud Foundry floats on Microsoft's Azure

Open source goodness trickles over the Redmond set

Open-source devops platform Cloud Foundry has opened for business on Microsoft’s cloud.

Cloud Foundry hit general availability on Azure on Monday, featuring integration with the Redmond cloud.

The Azure Cloud Provider Interface (CPI) has been merged with the Cloud Foundry Repository, to make it faster and easier to build apps using different languages on Microsoft’s cloud.

With this release you get to provision resources for BOSH and Cloud Foundry via the Azure Resource Manager, provision and manage Cloud Foundry VMs using the Azure CPI, with Cloud-Foundry features such as snapshot supported on Azure.

Azure support for Cloud Foundry was announced in May, at the Cloud Foundry Summit.

Putting Cloud Foundry on Azure is designed to let you rollout hybrid and multi cloud platforms and combine on-prem and private cloud with public.

Microsoft has been working to make sure Azure CPI works in private cloud on the Azure Stack.

Cloud Foundry is the open-source platform-as-a-service developed by VMware and Pivotal Software released in 2011. It can already be deployed on AWS and on OpenStack, both using BOSH. ®
