AMD appoints Belenkiy as new EMEA channel boss

Faulkner steps down to care for sick husband

AMD has bid farewell to EMEA channel chief Fiona Faulkner, who has left for “personal reasons”.

We understand that Faulkner’s husband is suffering from the advanced stages of leukaemia and she is taking time out to help care for him – we wish her all the best.

The chip and graphics card vendor confirmed that “with immediate effect”, Alexander (Sasha) Belenkiy has taken charge of the EMEA component channel business.

Belenkiy has worked at AMD for 13 years, most recently as boss man for the partner operation in Central Eastern Europe, South Eastern Europe, Russia/CIS and Turkey.

Prior to AMD, Faulkner spent 12 years in various senior roles at Nvidia, most recently as a senior director for the EMEA and India channels.

She arrived at AMD in October last year, inheriting a particularly challenging set of cards to play: the PC market was starting to slow down sharply after a busy replacement cycle that was further boosted by Microsoft ending support for Windows XP.

AMD was caught carrying excess components as PC OEMs pulled down their forecasts. It was forced to bite the bullet and write down some of its stock, halting distribution of new chips until inventory levels fell into line with the normal laws of supply and demand. ®
