Suffering a comms blackout in the loo? Now you don't have to

Instant messaging app Pooductive let's you reach like minded 'friends or strangers'

Ever wanted to shoot the shit with “friends and strangers” while on the bog? Fear not because the Pooductive app has emerged that allows you to do just that, AND it’s free.

The realtime messaging service allows users to make contact with like minded individuals in other countries or those in your own that are within a 250 to 5km radius - all from the comfort of the WC.

The user can then decide whether they want a one-on-one chat action or be part of a group discussion, to maybe go over the likely outcome of Labour election, electric cars or simply share tips for nice recipes.

The folk behind Pooductive, developers Ricardo Gruber and Marco Hernandez, couldn’t score the €10k they were seeking on a Kickstarter project - funny that.

But they didn’t let a little thing like inward investment stop them - the world needs this after all - and it is now available to download on the iTunes store.

“Pooductive lets you chat with local and global friends or strangers, who are on the toilet, anywhere in the world at the same time as you,” wrote Gruber, presumably from the comfort of his own dunny.

“Think of it as a magical place where people from around the globe can anonymously meet to enjoy their time of zen, peace and quiet together, by conversing, philosophising and sharing ideas with each other,” he continued.

Gruber said the app made the time on the toilet so much more useful than “simply reading the back of a shampoo bottle”.

As if helping people come together isn’t enough, the pair are evangelising the app to “connect Pooductive with some big charities” working on “clean water and improving hygiene in developing countries”.

According to a recent survey, three quarters of smartphone owners already use their device - while taking a leak or dropping the kids off at the pool - to connect to the outside world, so Pooductive may be a little late to this particular party.

What a time to be alive. ®
