Wick Hill decides the, er, Price is right

Channel veteran, a man called Tony, grabs UK sales director role

Channel veteran Tony Price has landed as UK sales director at specialist security distie Wick Hill.

Price is a former boss at reseller WStore and has worked in various levels across distribution at now defunct CHS Electronics and second user wholesaler Chiltern IT.

“We’ve got a significant expectation of increased sales in the UK and he [Price] has the profile that we were looking for to help achieve this,” Wick Hill chairman Ian Kilpatrick told us.

The security market is shifting from breach prevention to breach management, meaning customers should attribute more budget to network defences from inside the corporate network.

Price’s job will also be to lead training and education on these and other changes taking place in the cyber security landscape.

He replaces Wick Hill’s former Brit sales director Richard Carpenter, who left last month and is now commercial director at Comstor.

As revealed recently, newly formed Rigby Private Equity has taken a majority stake in Wick Hill for an undisclosed sum, and the proceeds of those funds will be used to expand the business.

Wick Hill has offices in the UK and in Germany, from where it sells to the Austrian and Swiss tech channels. The plan is to beep up operation across the mainland to become pan-European.

In the year to 31 March 2014, Wick Hill turned over £69.93m, up from £43.96m in the prior year. The security market is clearly continuing to heat up. The distie made an operating profit of £2.89m in the fiscal versus £423k a year earlier. ®
