Rubrik deluged with a bucket full of B-round dollars

Hybrid cloud backup appliance startup pockets a cool $41m

Rubrik has gotten itself a $41m B-round funder just months after its $10m A-round.

The company aims to disrupt the back-up and recovery market dominated by EMC, IBM and Symantec (Veritas).

Its backup-to-the-cloud r300 Series Appliance is now generally available and described as using hyper-converged technology and offering a hybrid cloud architecture.

We're told that market reception has been positive, and Rubrik's Early Access Program has doubled since March. These three events seem to have triggered the funding round, which was led by Greylock Partners.

The company's website states its mission is to "transform complex IT into simple, beautiful and complete products ... liberating you from the shackles of legacy IT by bringing web-scale technology and consumer design to the enterprise". Well, we'll see.

Bipul Sinha, Rubrik's co-founder and CEO, is also the chairman of Nutanix' board (by the way). ®
