CIOs: How can IT patrol the border in a multi-channel world?

The perils of managing suppliers, customers...even users?

Reg Roundtable If you expect your company to be around five years from now, you can also expect that the IT department is going to be called on to help sales, marketing and procurement deal with the world far beyond the server room.

We used to have an iron curtain between "them" and "us", but now we let suppliers and customers access our databases. Meanwhile sales staff communicate with the planet via multiple digital devices we may or may not know about.

That’s why on June 17, we’ll be asking:

Where are the borders of IT in a multi-channel world?

Your company’s website is just one of the ways your counterparts in the business units are looking to communicate with customers - and you might not have control, or even knowledge, of many of those channels, be they social, mobile or even just a good old fashioned landline.

Meanwhile customers in both the B2B and B2C worlds demand intimate integration with your systems, so how do you balance their needs, your needs and the compliance department’s needs? Oh, and did we mention big data?

And if our involvement in the rest of the business is also growing, so there are opportunities as well as dangers. Either way, we tend to get blamed for things we only heard about when they go wrong.

We’ll be meeting at a central London Hotel on June 17th at 3pm. The formal discussion will last 90 minutes, and then we’d like you to join us to continue the conversation informally over fine wine and cocktails. The whole event will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule.

We’ll be keeping the numbers down to no more than 12, but please register your interest below and we'll be in touch to let you know if you've secured a place. If you don’t make the list for this event, don’t worry, we’ll make sure you’re on the list for future events.
