Google to extend Hyderabad office into first non-US campus

Dress code for 13,000 Googlers is 'wear something'

Google looks to have signed a deal with the Indian State of Telangana that will see the company splash down a colossal campus in Hyderabad.

Telangana's technology minister KT Rama Rao has been doing the rounds of Silicon Valley this week, Tweeting as he goes.

At Google, he squeezed out these three missives:

KTR – as he's known – also caught up with mates from Adobe …

… and managed a grip 'n' grin with Oracle CEO Mark Hurd.

KTR also met with folks from Nvidia, Cavium and VC firms.

The deal with Google will also see Hyderabad become the first city to appear on Street View.

Hyderabad is already Google's Indian headquarters, and is home to a “ … user operations & policy team [that] prevents spam and fraud in all our products” plus a team of “sales Googlers [who] support advertisers small and large in India, North America, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.” Engineers “... develop tools and processes to make engineers more productive, as well as Google products used by hundreds of millions of people around the world.”

The company's page for the office features policy and quality operations director Vivaik Bharadwaj saying “Some companies have rules and regulations and dress codes. Here, the only dress code is ‘wear something.’”

KTR and Google aren't saying what the extra hires will do or when the campus will open. ®
