Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg only hires people he would work for, which, using the same principle of reciprocity, presumably means he'd work for every single person contributing freely to his giant content farm ad platform.

Speaking at a "town hall" meeting in Barcelona, Zuck said: "I will only hire someone to work directly for me if I would work for that person," adding: "It's a pretty good test."

"The most important thing is to keep your team as small as possible," reported The Telegraph.

He added: "[Facebook] serves more than a billion people around the world but our team has fewer than 10,000 people. It's only possible because of modern technology. Big companies get bloated."

Last month a Belgian academic report (PDF, 61 pages) on the social biz entitled From Social Media Service to Advertising Network claimed that the company's privacy policy breached European Law.

It also said the company's user-generated content in commercial communications "is not transparent at all" as users are kept unaware about when and how their content is being re-used for commercial purposes.

The re-use of user content for targeting and advertising purposes is deeply embedded in Facebook’s practices.

"Users are even more disempowered because they are unaware about how exactly their data is used for advertising purposes," it added. ®
