Chief marketeer walks at Violin Memory

Herzog leaves for 'Fortune 500' firm

Updated Violin Memory has lost its chief marketing officer on the cusp of a major product launch.

Eric Herzog has resigned to go to a Fortune 500-class large competitor to Violin for what has been described as an "amazing" amount of money.

Herzog joined Violin from EMC in March 2014, and worked on the startup's marketing, with social media featuring in the mix.

Violin CEO Kevin DeNuccio said he appreciated everything Eric had achieved for Violin and wished him well.

The marketing messages and channels for the coming launch are already defined and Violin has enough people in place so that the marketing function shouldn't miss a beat during the coming launch.

+Comment

We await to hear where the good ship Herzog has landed. We understand it's not EMC, which leaves Dell, HDS, HP, IBM and NetApp as possible places to have their marketing departments "Herzogged". We'll put our money on HP. ®

Update

We were wrong – Herzog will be a VP running storage marketing at IBM.
