Marky Mark & the techie bunch: We love you, China. Can Facebook 'n' Apple come over?

Top Chinese interwebs man visits US: Boydroid, Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos wax on with Lu Wei

Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon chief Jeff Bezos and Apple kingpin Tim Cook recently welcomed China's top internet regulator to the United States.

Photographs posted on a People's Republic state-owned news website showed the tech titans heartily laughing and smiling with Lu Wei.

Zuckerberg apparently greeted Wei in Mandarin, when the Chinese minister visited the Facebook co-founder at his company's Menlo Park headquarters.

It was not revealed by china.com.cn when the visits took place.

The government-run news service said that Zuckerberg had a copy of Chinese President Xi Jinping's book The Governance of China on his desk.

Facebook's copper-haired chief apparently told Wei that he wanted his employees "to understand socialism with Chinese characteristics".

Chummy exchanges with Cook and Bezos were also snapped by China's official news agency. One photograph showed the Apple boss and Wei fiddling with a wristwatch-style gizmo.

Facebook has been blocked by the country's Communist Party in China since 2009. The People's Republic agreed last year to allow access to the network for users within the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, so as foreigners could, er, feel more at home. ®
