Ausgezeichnet! Logicalis devours German channel biz

Infra-kit and services outfit Inforsacom joins parent group Datatec

Integrator Logicalis has wolfed down German infrastructure services biz Inforsacom for an undisclosed sum.

Some would say this is a brave move given the state of that country IT market and wider economic woes, with Forrester forecasting a 1.2 per cent rise in spending on tech for 2014.

But perhaps Logicalis grabbed a bargain for the circa $140m turnover business that employs 160 staff, selling database, storage and other infrastructure “solutions and services - the companies didn’t confirm.

“The acquisition of Inforsacom creates a larger platform with broader ICT services capabilities to augment Logicalis’ existing German operations, in line with the strategy of growing our presence in Europe,” said Jen Montanana, the wonderfully named CEO of parent Datatec.

In the first half of Logicalis’ fiscal 15 that ended August, the firm reported a seven per cent drop in turnover to $714.4m, and a rise in operational costs saw operating profit slip seven per cent to $30.5m.

The latest buy in Germany comes months after Logicalis acquired a majority stake in software developer ituma GmbH, and signals its intent to become less reliant on the UK, which accounts for 60 per cent of sales in Europe. ®
