Official: European members prefer to fondle Apple iPads

Only 7 of 50 parliamentarians plump for Samsung Galaxy S

The European Parliament’s IT department is attempting to drag MEPs kicking and screaming into the digital age… by letting them play with the latest tablets.

The parliamentarians will get to choose which device they wish to keep. DG ITEC – as the Parl’s tech department is known – has set up a play area where the members can fondle an iPad Air or a Samsung Galaxy Tab S.

By end of day two of the “exhibition” 50 of the 750 MEPs had been along to look at what was on offer and register their choice - 43 to seven in favour of the fruity option. The rest have another day to get along and vote with their feet, or, as is most likely, have their assistants send in a request by email.

A Windows option is not yet available, but will be in the coming weeks. Of course, by then, most MEPs will probably have grabbed an iPad. ®
