iBail: American Psycho actor Christian Bale rejects Steve Jobs role

iWould rather play a rubber-clad superhero

Batman Begins actor Christian Bale has declined the opportunity to channel the spirit of Steve Jobs and will no longer star in a biopic about the erstwhile Apple supremo.

The film has been hit by personnel troubles ever since its inception. Bale is the second high-profile thesp to change his mind about playing the fruity fuhrer.

Leonardo DiCaprio was also offered the role, only to turn it down, while Danny Boyle was roped in to direct it after producers failed to reach an agreement with David Fincher, director of The Social Network.

Aaron Sorkin, writer of the Jobs movie as well as the Zuckerberg biopic, revealed the news that Bale was playing Jobs two weeks ago.

"We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale," he said. "He didn’t have to audition. Well, there was a meeting."

Others actors now rumoured to be in the running for the part include Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper and Matt Damon.

Seth Rogen is thought to have inked a deal which will see him play Steve "Woz" Wozniak.

The new film is thought to focus on three key moments in Steve Jobs' life. It follows in the footsteps of a critically mauled biopic simply titled Jobs. ®
