Sony borks fanboi funboxes with dodgy PS4 update
Ready for the new firmware? Not so fast
Support staff for Sony's PlayStation 4 have been sent scrambling after users reported issues with the console's latest firmware update.
The PS4 2.00 update had promised a handful of new features for Sony's latest console, including the ability to upload YouTube videos of gameplay, share games with friends, and decorate the console's UI with custom themes with the console.
When the firmware update was released, however, some users were finding that the new features also brought with them some rather serious bugs.
Among the problems reported to Sony forums by users is the inability for the console to properly wake back up after going into "Rest Mode." Other users have reported issues with connecting and using controllers, while still others say they had trouble getting the new YouTube app to run correctly.
Sony, for its part, said that it was looking into the matter:
We are aware of issues reported by some PS4 users following the release of 2.0, our engineers are investigating. Thanks for your patience.

The company has not said when a possible fix for the issues could make its way to customers.
Such errors have become almost routine major updates and releases for systems. When the PS4 was first introduced to market, a "blue light of death" issue plagued some consoles, while the Xbox One had launch day issues of its own and Apple's iOS 8 update required two fixes before it would execute properly. ®
